To serve, spread a warm layer of chili in a large platter to act as a “graveyard,” then nestle the baked mummy dogs into the chili and top with shredded cheese. It creates a playful and delicious Halloween centerpiece that’s sure to please guests of all ages. Have a safe, fun Halloween!

Beyond the Regular Hot Dogs for Your Mummies
Feel free to mix up the sausages to suit your taste. Cheese-stuffed hot dogs add extra flavor and fun, while spicy or flavored sausages give a bolder bite. You can also use cocktail sausages, sliced kielbasa, or artisan sausages cut to size. The recipe is flexible — pick what your family enjoys and experiment to create a unique platter of mummy dogs.

Ingredients
- 8 ounces package crescent dough sheets (226g)
- 8 hot dogs (or sausages of your choice)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 2 tablespoons water (30ml, for egg wash)
- Mustard (for eyes)
- Ketchup or hot sauce (for eyes)
- 30 ounces chili (about 850g or 2 1/2 cups, adjust to taste)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (113g)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll the crescent dough and cut into 3/8″–1/2″ wide strips.
- Pat the hot dogs dry to help the dough adhere. Wrap strips of dough around each hot dog to create a mummy look, leaving a small unwrapped area for the “face.” Criss-cross strips occasionally and stretch the dough as needed. Place each mummy face-side up on the prepared sheet.
- Whisk together the egg and water, then brush the dough “bandages” with the egg wash.
- Bake about 15 minutes, or until the dough is golden. Dot mustard and ketchup or hot sauce on the face to create eyes and any desired facial features.
- Heat the chili and pour it into a large serving dish to form the “graveyard.” Place the mummy dogs in the chili, sprinkle with shredded cheese, and serve warm.
