Honey Orange Cranberry Sauce Recipe for Holiday Tables

Perfectly sweet-tart homemade cranberry sauce with bright orange and a hint of cinnamon, gently sweetened with honey. This honey orange cranberry sauce is excellent alongside turkey or spooned over yogurt.

I wanted to share this easy cranberry sauce before the weekend to pair with the sweet potatoes and quinoa stuffing I posted recently. I enjoy plain cranberry sauce, but this honey-orange version surprised me — I love it. It’s bright and lively from the orange, and the honey balances the tartness. I often enjoy a spoonful over plain yogurt as a snack. The orange flavor really makes this special.

One tip: make this sauce the day before serving. It’s good warm from the stove, but it becomes much more harmonious after chilling overnight. The orange flavor develops and the texture firms up nicely in the fridge. Whether you serve it with turkey or on top of yogurt, letting it rest overnight improves the taste. Enjoy!

Honey Orange Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 – 340g/12 oz bag fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 3/4 cup orange juice no sugar added
  • 1/3 – 1/2 cup honey more as needed
  • Zest of 2 large oranges
  • 1 cinnamon stick optional

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a medium pot and place over medium heat.
  • Bring to a boil, stirring to combine, then reduce to a simmer. Cook until the cranberries have burst and the sauce has thickened to your liking, about several minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let cool. Chill overnight for best flavor and texture.

Notes

This sauce is tasty when fresh, but develops a fuller orange flavor and firmer texture after chilling in the refrigerator overnight.
