Green Frankenstein OREO balls made with just a few ingredients. This easy recipe is perfect for a Halloween dessert table or for cozy movie nights with the family.
Frankenstein-themed treats are one of my favorite Halloween ideas. I love turning classic no-bake desserts into little green monsters—they’re festive, kid-friendly, and quick to make.

We often pair seasonal treats with books and crafts—right now my kids and I are reading a kid-friendly biography of the Frankenstein story, which inspired this batch of cookie truffles.
Making holiday OREO balls has become a family tradition. Over the years we’ve adapted the basic recipe into Cauldron OREO balls, Mummy OREO balls, and pumpkin-shaped treats. These truffles are popular because they’re simple, adaptable, and delicious.
Frankenstein OREO ball ingredients
- OREO cookies – regular or gluten-free (not double-stuffed)
- Cream cheese – softened to room temperature
- Green melting wafers or green candy melts
- Candy eyes
- Black icing or melted dark chocolate for details
- Sprinkles (optional)

How to make Frankenstein OREO Balls
These truffles are quick to assemble and easy to customize—use different colors, shapes, or decorations to match any party theme.
- Crush the cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor or a sealed bag and rolling pin.
- Combine the crumbs with softened cream cheese until fully mixed and smooth.
- Scoop and roll into 1-inch balls. You can shape them slightly square for a classic Frankenstein look. Chill for 10–15 minutes to firm up.
- Melt the green candy melts according to package directions and dip each truffle, shaking off excess.
- Before the coating sets, add candy eyes and any sprinkles. Once set, use black icing or melted dark chocolate to pipe the mouth and hairline details.

Storage and serving
OREO balls are best served cold. They can sit out for about an hour at room temperature, but the cream cheese center will soften and the chocolate shell will lose crunch if left out too long. Store the truffles in the refrigerator until ready to serve and keep them chilled between servings.
