DIY Bubble Solution Recipe with Dr. Bronner’s Soap

Bubble

Warning: this post is for fun. Play relieves stress, and lowering stress is one of the simple habits that helps skin health, so there’s a little practical value here too.

In the video I demonstrate a GIY (Green-It-Yourself) bubble solution made from ½ cup (120 mL) Sal Suds, ½ cup (120 mL) corn syrup, and 2 cups (480 mL) distilled water. I also tested several alternative ingredients that work well if you don’t have the exact items on hand. Here are substitutions you can try:

  • 2/3 cup (160 mL) Castile liquid soap (instead of Sal Suds)
  • 1/4 cup (60 mL) glycerin (instead of corn syrup)
  • 1 cup (240 mL) simple syrup in place of corn syrup; if you use simple syrup, reduce the water to 1 1/2 cups (360 mL)

This recipe contains no preservative, so it’s not intended for long-term storage. Keep the solution and use it within about a week for best results.

A big thank you to my nephew and niece for enthusiastic bubble blowing (and popping), and to Tucker for a very brief cameo.
