I love recipes that work for both breakfast and dessert, and this Greek yogurt with warm berry sauce is exactly that. It’s quick to make, lightly sweetened, and versatile enough to top yogurt, oatmeal, pancakes, waffles or even ice cream. The bright berry sauce softens the tang of the yogurt, creating a simple, satisfying bowl.
The sauce is easy to prepare and intensely flavorful without a lot of added sugar. I often find myself spooning the sauce straight from the pan—though it’s best to let it cool a bit so you don’t burn your tongue. The combination of warm berries and creamy Greek yogurt is comforting and elegant, perfect for a weekday breakfast or a simple, wholesome dessert.

This homemade warm berry sauce spooned over Greek yogurt makes a bright, healthy breakfast or a light dessert. It’s fast, adaptable, and full of fresh berry flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 1/3 cups frozen mixed berries (or any blend of berries you prefer)
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 tbsp. butter
- 2 cups plain reduced-fat Greek yogurt
Instructions
- Combine the frozen berries, sugar, water, and lemon juice in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a gentle simmer.
- Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce begins to thicken. Stir in the butter until melted and incorporated. Remove from heat and allow the sauce to cool slightly so it’s warm but not scalding.
- Divide the Greek yogurt among four serving bowls. Spoon the warm berry sauce evenly over the yogurt and serve immediately. The sauce is also delicious chilled or folded into oatmeal, ice cream, pancakes, or waffles.
